January Greeting from Mary

Happy New Year Chamber Members and Friends,

We hope all is well and you survived the hectic mayhem that the holidays often bring. As much as I look forward to the fun family gatherings and appreciate the time we all spend together, I do love January’s quiet nature and time to plan for the upcoming year and the great expectation of what is to come.

Here at the Chamber we are excited about many things. From the Legislative Breakfast Series and Annual Business Show to Winter in August and our annual golf tournament, we look forward to the fun events that bring us together for networking opportunity. We are also excited about our newer events – The REAL RUTLAND FEUD and the indoor golf tournament that are also entertaining. Of course, our monthly mixers are a staple in our calendars and a chance to expose your business or make contacts with potential customers. We continue to be excited about the events we have to build our networks and expand our businesses and look forward to increasing these opportunities.

The Regional Marketing Initiative and the Real Rutland Campaign is headed into its third year and we have an opportunity to work with a new marketing firm. We are thrilled about the potential and continue to be pleased with the progress of the campaign. As we head into year three, the two objectives of supporting the growth of businesses in the region, including those in the tourism industry as well as increasing the appropriate workforce for Rutland County employers continues to be the focus.

We look forward to another year of participation in the Stay to Stay Program – a collaboration with the Vermont Department of Tourism to introduce people to the possibilities of living here. The program was a huge success in 2018 and we are looking forward to the same in 2019!

We take this time to reflect on the past year and the great collaborations and exciting things that happened – including a GMP House Giveaway and the installation of 5 marble sculptures throughout the City of Rutland.  We are now enjoying a new City Park as well as a rejuvenated downtown Brandon! We look forward to seeing some exciting things happen in Proctor, Wallingford and Fair Haven – all towns that are looking for ways to ignite and energize their communities.

I am sure 2019 will continue with us all working together to make this an exciting place to be. Thanks for all you do to contribute to this vitalization!
