“Quilters the Musical” by Molly Newman and Barbara Damashek

“Quilters the Musical” by Molly Newman and Barbara Damashek

A tender, moving play about a pioneer woman and her daughters, QUILTERS skillfully blends a series of interrelated scenes into a memorable musical.

Each scene is introduced by a quilt square or “block” symbolic of life’s passages. During each “block”, the actresses skillfully transform into many different characters whose stories depict the lot of women on the prairie.

Combining music, dance and drama, QUILTERS captures both the harsh challenges and the abiding rewards of frontier life with vivid dramatic intensity.

All profits go to the Rutland County Women’s Network & Shelter.

Admission by free will offering.

Miss Lorraine’s Dance Recital

Miss Lorraine’s Dance Recital

Two performances: 1pm and 6pm

Adults: $19, 12 and Under: $16, 65 and Over: $16

Miss Lorraine opened her first dance studio in the Rutland area in 1968 when she began teaching ballet and tap out of the recreation center on Center Street. She took pride in sharing her love of dance with the community. She was joined by her daughter, Pam, who began teaching her own classes in 1975. Miss Lorraine and Miss Pam taught side by side for decades before Miss Lorraine’s retirement in 2001. Miss Pam continued to run the studio until 2013 when her daughter, Heather took over. Today, Miss Heather is a third generation owner and manager of Miss Lorraine’s School of Dance.

While the studio grew over the years, the sense of family and community that Miss Lorraine founded her studio upon remains the same. Generations of students have found their love for the art of dance at Miss Lorraine’s. All of our teachers were students of Miss Lorraine herself, and continue on her legacy every day in every class.

Miss Lorraine’s School of Dance offers lessons in ballet, pointe, lyrical, acrobatics, tap, jazz, and hip hop. We welcome dancers of all abilities from ages 3 to Adult. Call or email us today for more information.

Paul Taylor 2 Dance Company

Paul Taylor 2 Dance Company

Presented as part of the “Soundings at the Paramount” series.

Paul Taylor established Taylor 2 in 1993 to ensure that his works could be seen by audiences all over the world, unhindered by economic or technical limitations. Mr. Taylor worked with longtime colleague Linda Hodes to create a company that could accommodate performance requests as well as teach and provide community outreach. Mr. Taylor looked back to the 1954 origins of the Paul Taylor Dance Company for the structure of his new company: six professionals with a particular gift for his style who perform his work throughout the world.

Tickets for this performance are $18 for adults, $15 for Castleton faculty, staff, alumni and seniors, and $12 for students and children, and are available at the Fine Arts Center Box Office at (802) 468-1119.

Get ready moms, dads, grandpas, grandmas and super special people for experiencing a night to remember with your little ones.

Well here’s your chance to dance the night away with your little girl(s) or little boy(s)! Get your picture taken together to mark the occasion. Eat dessert together while your little one enjoys the one-on-one attention.

Imagine how cute it will be to see the little ones slow dancing with their favorite adult and the bigger kids showing the adults how to do the latest moves. Prepare to dance the evening away with our sponsor DJ Brett Myhre.

A photographer will be available for couple’s photos to mark the occasion. There will also be roaming photographers taking candid shots throughout the evening. Of course the highlight is the dessert table! Our volunteers make the best sweet treats and will be a big hit with everyone attending.
