Swing for the Arts

Swing for the Arts

Friday, October 21 from 7:00-10:00pm

Love live music, a good cause, and swing dancing?

The Compass Music and Arts Foundation (CMAF) is partnering with the 18-piece big band, EnerJazz, to create Swing for the Arts, a benefit to fund programs for the community and support the many projects set up by CMAF in cooperation with local schools.

Tickets are just $25 and there’s a discount for students and Friends of the Foundation.

Local star from Rutland’s Dancing with the Stars, Dave Allen, will be on hand to give free swing dance instructions from 7:00 -7:30. He’ll also show off some of his faster moves with a demonstration later in the evening.

Prefer to just tap your toes? No problem, café style seating will be available. A cash bar will be serving Brandon’s own Foley Brothers Brewing and Neshobe River Winery, and light hors d’oeuvres will also be available.

EnerJazz is a high energy big band dedicated to playing favorite tunes from the Swing Era in their original style, using the original arrangements whenever possible. In addition to the music of Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Glenn Miller and others their repertoire includes contemporary jazz, popular tunes and improvisation. They are a popular draw at outdoor concert venues throughout the region all summer long.

From presenting a free performance of internationally acclaimed violinist Madeleine Mitchell in an intimate salon setting, to encouraging school students of all ages to find their voice and inspiration in the works of resident artists with Poem in Your Pocket, The Compass Music and Arts Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, is dedicated to enriching life through a deeper experience of music, and the literary, performing and visual arts.
