Dancing with the Rutland Stars 2018

Don’t miss the 8th Annual “Dancing with the Rutland Stars” event coming to the Paramount Theatre on Saturday, October 6th. This special fundraising event benefits Kids on the Move and the Pediatric High-Tech program of the Visiting Nurse Association & Hospice of the Southwest Region.

This year’s “stars” are: Matt Cataldo, co-owner and partner of Carpenter & Costin; Gordon Dritschilo, staff writer at the Rutland Herald; Praveen Kesheva, MD, owner of Central Vermont Eye Care; Mike McClallen, attorney at McClallen & Associates; Jody McIntosh, MSN, RN, manager of Rutland Regional Medical Center’s Women’s & Children’s Unit; Andy Paluch, executive director of Come Alive Outside; Lisa Ryan, program manager of the Rutland County Community Justice Center at BROC Community Action.

Professional partners will choreograph each dance and couples will perform before a panel of judges. Judges are Dave Correll, general manager at Best Western Inn & Suites Rutland-Killington; Bernadette Robin, marketing and business development director for the Visiting Nurse Association & Hospice of the Southwest Region. A third just will be announced later.

All event proceeds benefit VNAHSR’s Kids on the Move and Pediatric High-Tech rehabilitation program. Kids on the Move serves children with genetic and developmental disorders, orthopaedic injuries and diseases, and developmental delays.

Tickets will go on sale at the Paramount Box office or online at paramountvt.org beginning Saturday, September 1st at 10am.

The Vermont Farmers Food Center is pleased to announce our 4th Annual Harvest Festival, Food, Fun and Community Fundraiser.

On Sunday, September 23rd, 2018 we’ve planned a wonderful afternoon and evening for you.

Guests are invited to arrive at “Farmers Hall” at 251 West Street in Rutland at 3:00 pm for music, cocktails, and appetizers and to begin viewing a vast array of donated silent auction items.

Eurobuilt Car Show and Charity Auction

Back for it’s 3rd year EUROBUILT will be held on Sunday, August 26, 2018 at the Vermont State Fairgrounds in Rutland. The fairgrounds are located right on Route 7 (Main Street) in Rutland, within walking distance to restaurants, convenience stores, parts stores, car washes and more.

The show is open to all Volkswagen, Audi and Euros. There will be an enthusiast area for non-euro cars as well. The show will feature multiple classes and awards including Best of Show and more! There will be food and vendors as well. No alcohol, No outside grills are allowed. Dogs are fine just clean up after them.

28th Annual Relay For Life of Rutland County

SAVE THE DATE2018 Relay For Life of Rutland County will be held June 16 & 17 at the Vermont State Fairgrounds.
2018 THEME: WESTERN

Opening Ceremony – 1:00 p.m.

Time to get started. We kick off the event by honoring everyone who’s been affected by cancer and everyone who has contributed to the success of this year’s Relay season.

Survivor/Caregiver Walk – 1:30 p.m.

Survivors and Caregivers are the heart and soul of Relay For Life events. We honor their strength and courage with every step they take. It doesn’t matter if you were diagnosed 10 days ago or 10 years ago, you can walk while everyone gathers together to cheer you on.

Luminaria Ceremony – 9:00 p.m.

During this ceremony we represent everyone touched by cancer with a Luminaria. Each light represents a life—a life taken by cancer, a survivor of cancer, or a support for a person still fighting the disease. It’s a powerful demonstration that gives people the opportunity to grieve but also offers comfort and hope.

Closing Ceremony – 7:45 a.m. (Sunday)

Our closing ceremony is the time to commit to take action and help lead the fight for a world free from cancer. It’s a time to celebrate what we’ve accomplished together and a time to unify for the work that needs to be done moving forward.

Yoga with a Twist

We are doing it again!!! We received such a great response to our first Yoga With a Twist, that we added a second session!

This special fundraiser for Relay For Life of Rutland County pairs a gentle yoga class with refreshments and appetizers to follow.

$20 per person, all proceeds will be donated to Relay For Life.

This is open to the public, no gym membership is needed, so bring a friend!

Table 24’s 10th Anniversary Charity Golf Classic

Join Table 24 at Green Mountain National Golf Course as we celebrate our 10th Anniversary on the golf course! It will be a great day of golf, food and fun with friends as we raise money to support the Rutland Visiting Nurses!

Entry fee includes golf, cart, lunch on the golf course, tee gift and a delicious dinner at Table 24 during our Awards Ceremony. There will also be a raffle and a silent auction, as well as other great games and contests of “skill.”

This is a fun, relaxed “Captain & Crew / Scramble” format and golfers of all ability levels are encouraged to play. If you don’t have a team, but would like to play, sign-up and we’ll be sure to match you with a great crew.

Annual Letter Carrier’s Food Drive – Stamp Out Hunger

On Saturday, May 12, 2018, the National Association of Letter Carriers will host its annual “Stamp out Hunger” food drive.

The National Association of Letter Carriers, Branch #495 will be collecting non-perishable food items on that Saturday for distribution to food shelves in our Rutland County communities.

Please place a food donation by your mailbox on Saturday and your local letter carrier will pick it up and deliver it to the food shelves.

This event is a collaboration between our Rutland County United States Postal Service letter carriers, the United Way of Rutland County, the Rutland Community Cupboard, the Salvation Army, Fair Haven Concerned and BROC.
