57th Annual Art in the Park

The Chaffee Art Center is pleased to be offering its 57th set of Annual Art in the Park Fine Art & Craft Festivals in 2018.

Our  2018 Summer and Fall Foliage Art in the Park will be Saturday & Sunday, October 6 & 7, held in Main Street Park, at the Junction of Routes 4 & 7 in the heart of Rutland, Vermont.

All gate donations  support the Chaffee Art Center’s exhibitions, education, and community outreach programs.

If interested in applying to be a vendor, fill out the below application and email to artinthepark@chaffeeartcenter.org, mail to Chaffee Art Center, Attn. Art in the Park, 16 South Main Street, Rutland, VT 05701 or drop off at our gallery.

Chili Cook Off during Winter Fest

Chili Cook Off in Main Street Park!

A panel of local celebrity judges will be judging for 1st, 2nd & 3rd place prizes in all 3 divisions!

Prizes in each division:
1st place Grand Prize – $250
2nd place prize – $100
3rd place prize – $50

CONTESTANTS: (NO entry fee)

Please include your name, contact # & what division you will be entering…

Professional (chef/restaurant)
Group/Organization (non food business, church, clubs)
Amateur (individual person- the at home cook)

All contestants should bring a minimum of 3 Gallons of Chili!
(enough for the Judges & the Public Tasting)

All contestants MUST have a paper listing the type of chili (Beef, Chicken, Pork, or Vegetarian), Mild, Medium, or Hot & ALL INGREDIENTS visible at their booth! (Not your recipe or any increments… just what foods are in the dish so anyone with food allergies is aware before eating)

No power or equipment is provided! Everyone entering will be responsible for providing all of their own equipment & utensils (tables, tents, power source for cooking/heating, cooking utensils).

Tasting Cups for the public will be provided at each contestant’s booth.

All chili should be pre-cooked & just warmed for tasting during the event!

Check in / Set up will begin at 10:00 am

PUBLIC TASTING from 12:00 – 3:00
The chili tasting is FREE & open to the public!!
Everyone will be given a Tasting Spoon upon entering!

We are SO excited to be adding this event to Winter Fest & can’t wait to taste all of the amazing chili! Please come & join us!!!

Snow Sculpture Contest during Winter Fest

Snow Sculpture Contest during Winter Fest

Gather your friends and carve some snow! NEW this year we’ll have an artist/sculptor available to assist teams in the development and creation of their masterpiece!

4’x8′ snow forms will be carved by teams from local organizations and community groups. These will teams will have 4 hours to complete sculpture. Only 4 team members are allowed to be working on a single sculpture at one time. Teams will be allowed to color and decorate their sculptures. At the end of the day the teams competing will be judged and the winning group will be announced.

Registration will be taken on a first come first serve basis (max of 20). Deadline for submissions is Monday, February 12, 2018. Registration form must include the selection of VERTICAL or HORIZONTAL for the 4’x4’x8′ snow form. Registered sculptors must check in between 9:30AM and 10AM on the day of the contest. Sculpting begins at 10AM. No tools are provided, but many past participants have used: shovels, garden spades, spatulas, saws, ice scrappers, etc. No motorized tools may be used in construction. Designs must be complete by 2PM. Winners will be announced at 2:30PM.

The team cost is $100/$50 for schools.

Come and enjoy the view from the side or join the lovely folks from Wonderfeet Children’s Museum where kids of all ages can decorate and create snow creatures! Toast marshmallows with the folks from the Boys and Girls Club too. Don’t forget the skating rink will be back for broomball or ice skating (make sure to bring your own skates and a helmet) thanks to the Rutland City Fire Department and Department of Public Works.
