Dancing with the Rutland Stars 2017

Dancing with the Rutland Stars 2017

Don’t miss the 7th Annual “Dancing with the Rutland Stars” event coming to the Paramount Theatre on Saturday, October 7th. It’s going to be bigger and better than last year with more surprises and fun in store. This special fundraising event benefits Kids on the Move and the Visiting Nurse & Hospice of the Southwest Region’s Pediatric High-Tech program.

This year’s “stars” are: Mike Abatiell, owner of Abatiello Design Center; Elissa Hewitt, pediatric speech-language pathologist with Kids on the Move; Dr. Robin Leight, Rutland Women’s Healthcare, a department of Rutland Regional Medical Center; Mike Napolitano, owner of Awesome Graphics; Matt Prouty, Commander, Rutland Police Department; Joan Watson, co-owner and Broker at Coldwell Banker Watson Realty; and Reed Wilcox, financial advisor with Edward Jones.

Their professional partners are: David Allan, owner of Green Mountain Swing Dancing; Bill Kelley, founder of Pyramid Holistic Wellness Center; Adam King of Studio Fitness; Kylee Lawrence, owner – instructor of Studio 15: Academy of the Arts; Sheila McCutcheon, of Miss Jackie’s Studio of Dance; Mary Fran Skaza, of Miss Lorraine’s School of Dance; Tracy Tedesco of Fitness Made Fun!.

Professional partners will choreograph each dance and couples will perform before a panel of judges. Judges are Dave Correll, general manager at Best Western Inn & Suites Rutland-Killington; Tom Leypoldt, executive director of PEG TV; and Bernadette Robin, marketing and business development director for the Visiting Nurse & Hospice of the Southwest Region.

While the entertaining nature of the event is certainly a draw for the dancers, most are motivated to perform because of the important causes the event supports. All event proceeds benefit VNAHSR’s Kids on the Move and Pediatric High-Tech rehabilitation program. Kids On The Move serves children with genetic and developmental disorders, orthopaedic injuries and diseases, and developmental delays. Physical, occupational and speech language therapists work with children in the home. Pediatric High-Tech is a program for children who need specialized nursing care at home. By bringing health care to the homes of thousands of area residents and children, these programs ensure that their patients receive quality care and comfort in the familiar setting of their own homes.

Tickets will go on sale at the Paramount Box office or online beginning Friday, September 1st.

For more information about the event, please contact Katie O’Connor – West at 802-442-0501, email katie.oconnorwest@vnahsr.org.

Tickets: $30, $40, $50

Colin Hay is most beloved for his intimate, confessional live shows but most widely known for being the influential and celebrated frontman, songwriter and vocalist of 80’s pop sensations Men at Work with hits like “Down Under,” and “Who Can It Be Now.”   The range of artists who have chosen to cite him as a muse or who have found themselves on stage with him in the past year spans the genre landscape from heavy metal, to Americana, to Cuban rhythms and beyond. His inclusion as a playlist favorite from the likes of Metallica to The Lumineers reflects his continuing relevance and broad appeal. Now finding himself in the unprecedented place of having both ’80s fame and indie credibility, it’s possible that Hay has delivered the defining album of his solo career with his latest release Fierce Mercy.
