Nestled in the heart of Vermont’s Green Mountains, are the towns of Clarendon and Ira.

The Town of Clarendon is home to both natural and man-made wonders. During the warmer months, visit the Clarendon Gorge, specifically the Gorge’s upper falls. What makes this area a must-see isn’t the falls, but the 30-foot suspension bridge for foot traffic. Other parts of the Gorge are perfect for swimming and sunbathing.

Take a drive to the Kingsley Covered Bridge, a wooden structure that sits above the Mill River. Built-in 1870, it is Clarendon’s only remaining 19th-century covered bridge. It is listed on the National Registry of Historic Places.

Clarendon is easily accessible by car or plane – literally. Clarendon is home to Rutland Southern Vermont Regional Airport, which offers direct flights to and from Boston three times each day. Rutland Southern Vermont Regional Airport is one of the few airports in Vermont offering commercial flights. They offer a variety of services from aircraft servicing and maintenance, to banner towing, and flight instruction.

Clarendon is also home to the Bailey Memorial Library and Clarendon Grange Community Center. The Community Center is a great space to host gatherings such as banquets, performances, and celebrations.

Just west of Clarendon is the Town of Ira. Chartered in 1780, Ira has deep roots in preserving its history and the Ira Vermont Historical Society works hard to showcase the history of the town and its landmarks.
