The City of Rutland has committed funding for a City-wide Business Plan Competition which will support new entrepreneurs. This competition will be open to small businesses seeking to open, or existing businesses seeking to significantly expand, within Rutland City.
The competition will solicit ideas for new (or expanded) businesses. Applicants will be asked to develop viable and compelling business plans for their proposed venture.
Significant cash prizes will be awarded to the selected winners to help support their initial costs and obligations. Wrap-around support services are currently being sought as part of the award package.
We are currently soliciting community business partners who would like to support and participate in this exciting endeavor. The professional fields of legal, accounting, and marketing/promotion have been identified as critical components to the success of a new business. Community based business partners, working in these specific fields, are being sought to provide free consultative services to the selected winners. Tentative proposal selection will take place in December 2022.
The request for services/consultation time is for each partner to provide several hours (minimum of two) of free consultative services to assist the selected business within their area of expertise. The exact amount of time and specific area of consultation will be modified as appropriate for each winner.
We are looking for interested partners to commit to being involved and to specify an amount of time/service each would be willing to commit.
