Our History

Chamber & Economic Development of the Rutland Region was founded in 2020 following a merger of Rutland Region Chamber of Commerce and Rutland Economic Development Corporation (REDC).

Our organization is working to ensure that the greater Rutland Region has a vibrant and diversified workforce in the 21st century. By forging a partnership with area education, we will ensure our workforce is up to the challenge of the new economic era. CEDRR can assist your business with site selection, permitting, and financing – simplifying your relocation and making your expansion easier. We understand the many complex issues surrounding businesses and work closely with local, state, and federal governments; we can help your business grow. Join us in making our region a vibrant business community within the amazing state of Vermont.

Rutland Economic Development Corporation

Throughout its 80 year history, REDC worked to ensure that the Rutland region is the most innovative, creative, and friendly place to live, work, play, and grow a business.

From the 1950s, when REDC helped facilitate the sale of a building on Columbian Avenue to a company who then became a major employer: General Electric to the 1960s and 1970s when REDC worked to bring businesses to the Otter Creek Industrial Park – providing jobs for area residents. And, in the 1980s and 1990s, REDC broadened our focus, once strictly industrial, to also include retail, tourism, and service businesses. With each changing era, they’ve changed to meet the needs of the area, its communities, and businesses.

Rutland Region Chamber of Commerce

Rutland Region Chamber of Commerce was founded in 1898 as the Merchant’s Association of Rutland, Vermont. Since then, the Chamber has focused on improving our community and revitalizing Rutland County. Learn more about the Chamber’s History in Rutland Historical Society’s Quarterly.
