7th Annual Long Trail Century Ride to Benefit Vermont Adaptive Ski & Sports

The Long Trail Century Ride to Benefit Vermont Adaptive Ski and Sports returns again with an all-day event including cycling on 100-, 60-, 20- mile and a family-friendly 5K routes in the morning and a family-friendly festival and party in the afternoon with BBQ, live music, farmers market vendors, kids activities, silent auction and more.

Register BY June 1 to receive a one-day non-holiday/peak lift ticket voucher to Killington Resort for the 2017-2018 winter season.

 Vermont Adaptive Ski & Sports is a nationally recognized organization that empowers people of all abilities through inclusive sports and recreational programming regardless of ability to pay. In addition to sports, year round programming options integrate environmental, holistic wellness, and competitive training philosophies for people of all ages with cognitive, developmental, physical and emotional behavioral disabilities.

The proceeds from this ride will help provide year-round sports and recreational programming and equipment for those with disabilities and allow them to enjoy the outdoor activities and sports that many of us take for granted. The goal is to raise $225,000 from this event.

25th Annual Letter Carrier’s Food Drive – Stamp Out Hunger

On Saturday, May 13, 2017, the National Association of Letter Carriers will host its 25th annual “Stamp out Hunger” food drive.

The National Association of Letter Carriers, Branch #495 will be collecting non-perishable food items on that Saturday for distribution to food shelves in our Rutland County communities.

Please place a food donation by your mailbox on Saturday and your local letter carrier will pick it up and deliver it to the food shelves.

This event is a collaboration between our Rutland County United States Postal Service letter carriers, the United Way of Rutland County, the Rutland Community Cupboard, the Salvation Army, Fair Haven Concerned and BROC.

A Lip Sync Battle live on stage at the Paramount Theatre will be an evening of entertainment a speculative audience will regret to have missed.

Teams of local residents will lift spirits and show off our vibrant community.

Castleton Alumni Association Hosts Spring Gala

Castleton Alumni Association Hosts Spring Gala

The Castleton Alumni Association Board of Directors is hard at work planning the annual Alumni Association Gala for alumni and friends of the University this spring.

Scheduled for Saturday, April 22 from 6-11pm at the Rutland Holiday Inn, the event will feature an evening of entertainment, dining, dancing and live music provided by local Rutland region band, the Aaron Audet Band.

The gala will also include a silent auction with proceeds to benefit the Association’s Scholarship and Activities Funds. The Scholarship and Activities Funds support events for students on campus, including the Freshman Welcome and Senior Class Social, as well as fund annual scholarships for up to two Castleton University students each year.

Gala tickets are available for purchase at $50 per person and include hors d’oeuvres, dinner and dancing.

Guests are asked to register by Tuesday, April 5, 2017 as no tickets will be sold at the door. Special discounted room rates are offered to alumni and friends wishing to stay overnight.
