About the Role:
Under the direction of the CCBHC Medical Director, the Allied Health Associate will assist with providing high quality health care services to individuals receiving treatment services for substance use disorders. Services provided at clinic include medication management/assessment for substance use disorders and primary care screening.
A qualified Allied Health Associate will assist with various aspects of the clinic including care management, care coordination and health promotion. This role is part of a professional team that includes a program medical director, nurse, social workers, clinicians, case managers, and others, to ensure integrated care for adults experiencing substance use disorder and mental health concerns.
Responsibilities:
- Liaison between patients, treatment team and provider to ensure quality care.
- Rooms patients and records vital signs, history and review of systems.
- Performs medication reconciliation and obtains VPMS reports for review with the nurse and MAT provider.
- Complete prior authorizations for medications, as needed.
- Forward refill requests to provider.
- Performs and obtains results of urine drug screening and breathalyzer tests, as needed. Communicates results to treatment team.
- Phlebotomy with working knowledge of laboratory results.
- Administer injections.
- Maintain compliance at all times with clinical documentation, timelines and agency policies and procedures including meeting required timeframes for documentation and service notes.
Qualifications:
- Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) required.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience as a Medical Assistant or (equivalent) required.
- Knowledge of mental health and substance use disorders required.
- CPR and First Aid Certification required within the first 60 days.
- Working knowledge of psychotropic and Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) medications.
- Basic knowledge of methods of psychotherapy, principles, methods and procedures for diagnosis and treatment of physical and mental illnesses, substance use disorders, behavioral and affective disorders (some familiarity with the DSM IV and diagnostic techniques).
- Ability to assess crisis situations and intervene appropriately.
- Exemplify a strong work ethic and operate with highest level of integrity in and outside of the office.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with navigating Microsoft Word and Outlook required.
- Able to provide exceptional customer service skills with all clients, staff, and providers.
- Highly organized, attention to detail, self-starter and problem solver; including the ability to prioritize and work under pressure.
- Ability to understand the need for and maintain client confidentiality, HIPAA standards, and 42 c.f.r. Part 2.
- Ability to establish partnerships and work cooperatively with a wide variety of people and organizations, independently, and as part of a team.
- Must have a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation with personal automobile liability insurance coverage at or above the levels mandated by the State of Vermont.
