A Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) is a federally defined planning process that results in a regional strategy used to guide economic development over a five-year period.  The process brings together public, private, nonprofit, and institutional stakeholders to develop a plan designed to support regional economic development initiatives, create economic resiliency, and build capacity.

2023-2028: West Central Vermont CEDS

In 2023, the first CEDS for the West Central Vermont region was approved by the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA). The region encompasses Addison County, Chittenden County, Rutland County, Washington County, and a portion of Orange County, Vermont.  The CEDS outlines multiple goals including labor force expansion, equity, business development and job creation, workforce development and employee retention, infrastructure and economic resilience, and quality of life. In 2027, the West Central Vermont CEDS Steering Committee will begin a multi-year update to refine the strategic economic development vision for the West Central Vermont region.  Look for upcoming opportunities to weigh in on the update from regional economic development and planning partners.
