Dear Chamber Members,
Happy Summer! When it rains it pours – or when it’s hot it’s HOT!
We here at the Chamber continue to work on behalf of our members to promote our region, grow tourism and put lots of effort into attracting people to move to our region to bolster the population and increase the employee base. To that end, we are doing lots of exciting stuff!
The Vermont Department of Tourism’s “Stay to Stay” pilot program is taking place August 10th – 13th and there have been lots of sign ups since the June event and it looks like we will be hosting many new families who will be exploring the possibility of moving to our region. NBC Nightly News is very interested in this program and will be heading our way that weekend to interview lots of people. Stay tuned for more exciting news about this program!
We are new members of the Vermont Tourism Network – an organization that promotes Vermont to tour operators and group leaders. We are excited to provide them with the many events that take place in our region and we are hopeful this will lead to more bus tours through our communities.
We continue to be invited to share information about our Regional Marketing Initiative to organizations throughout the state, the most recent was the Vermont League of Cities and Towns. Mondo Mediaworks is currently creating content for year 2 and is traveling throughout the county to meet the “Real Rutland’ers”. We are eagerly anticipating the next marketing messages!
Congratulations to Tyler Richardson, new Director of REDC, congratulations to Kim Peters and Mayor Allaire on the opening of the new White’s Memorial Pool and Congratulations to Mary Moran on her well-deserved retirement as Superintendent of the Rutland City School System. We welcome her replacement, Adam Taylor as well as the new College of St. Joseph’s new President Dr. Jennifer Scott. We wish you all well!
Stay cool!
Mary
