39th Annual Crowley Brothers Memorial Road Race will take place on Sunday, June 14, 2015. Events for the day include the Crowley Marble City Half Marathon, RRCA Regional 10K Championship and RRCA Vermont Master’s Championship, 10K Relay, 5K, 5K Fitness and Survivors Walk, 5K Corporate Challenge Walk, and the Crowley/RRCA Kids’ Run the Nation Downtown Mile Run. All of the Crowley road race courses are certified and are point to point races with the 10K being the oldest point to point 10K in New England.
The 18th Annual Kids’ Downtown Mile Run is also slated to be bigger than ever. This event has grown from 50 runners to 350+ in the past few years. Children from the Rutland County schools participate in this event along with young runners from Canada and all other states in New England. This is a fun run for children with the main purpose of promoting healthy hearts and bodies through youth fitness.
In conjunction the 9th Annual Crowley Brothers’ Annual Sport and Fitness Expo will be held at the Rutland Middle School Keefe Gym on Library Avenue, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. For more information visit www.crowleyroadrace.com.

Calvary Bible Church will hold their 8th Annual Family Fun Day on Saturday, June 13th, 11am-2pm in Main Street Park, corner of Routes 4 & 7. This is a free community event sponsored by Calvary Bible Church. Free hot dogs, snow cones, cotton candy, games, crafts, face painting, live music, bounce houses, giant slide and more! LaFlammes Furniture will host their 1st Annual Golf Tournament to Benefit Intrepid Athletics on June 13th at 1:30 pm at Lake St. Catherine Country Club in Poultney. Cost is: Four Person Team – $300 or individual player – $80. Includes greens fees, cart, dinner and a chance to win thousands of dollars in prizes. Rutland County Women’s Network & Shelter are in need of the following items Gift Cards for: Gas, food, and clothing; Laundry Detergent; Cleaning Supplies; Garbage Bags (8 gallon and 13 gallon); Kleenex Tissues; Disposable Diapers of all sizes (especially 1, 3 and 4-6); Shampoo & Conditioner; Mouth Wash; Dental Floss; Liquid Body Wash and loofah’s. Rutland Regional Medical Center honored 215 employees for dedicated service and accomplishments recently at its Annual Employee Awards Banquet. The 215 employees have given 3,385 years of collective service to Rutland Regional. Employees were recognized for their years of service ranging from 5 to 45 years. In addition, the Clinical and Non-Clinical Employees were also announced, along with six recipients of the Service Excellence Award. The Employees of the Year are both selected from a pool of past year Employee of the Quarter recipients and Service Excellence Award winners are chosen from those honored for years of service.
The Clinical Employee of the Year Award was presented to Colette Myhre, Clinical Manager of Endoscopy. The Non-Clinical Employee of the Year Award was presented to Helen Poro, Shipper/Receiver in Materials Management.
Service Excellence Awards were presented to: Donna Hammond, RN, Medical Oncology Unit – 35 years of service; Wanda Stiles, Environmental Services – 25 years of service; Donna Manfredi, Mailroom – 15 years of service; Jeffrey Lavoie, Surgical Care Unit – 10 years of service; Jeremy Carrara, Telecommunications and Judith Quesnel, Rutland Women’s Health – 5 years of service
Rutland Regional’s 40-year recipients were also recognized for their years of service. They include: Irene Dazzi, Health Information; Nicole Duhamel, Nursing Excellence; Cheryl Hackett, Hematology; Christine Houston, Ultrasound; Marsha Jones, Patient Accounting; Maureen Paradee, Digestive Services; Jeannie Raiche, Medical Oncology Unit; and Shirley Robinson, Emergency Department.
Maryann McDonough of Cardiac Rehabilitation was the only 45-year recipient.
