Homeless Prevention Center presents Stand up to Homelessness, A Comedic Benefit For The Homeless Prevention Center. The Homeless Prevention Center is excited to have Rich Williams back for our 2nd Stand Up for the Homeless benefit. Rich has appeared on Comedy Central and the Chelsea Handler Show. Hosted by Mike Kingsbury and Special Guest Ryan Kenyon. Cash Bar & Light Hors d’ouevres also provided. Doors open at 7:30pm, Show starts at 8:00pm. Tickets are $25 in advance or $30 at the door. Rutland County Humane Society Annual Yard Sale Fundraiser will take place on Saturday, May 20th, 2017, 8am to 2pm at Cheney Hill Community Center, 339 Cedar Ave, Rutland Town. Many new and slightly used items will be for sale, ranging from items for your pet to beautiful things for your home. Drop off times: Wednesday 5/17 4-6pm, Thursday 5/18 4-7pm, Friday 5/19 8am to 6pm. They cannot accept electronics, tires, mattresses, appliances, clothing, broken, recalled or smelly items. The Carving Studio and Sculpture Center presents “Metal as Line” with Paulette Werger, May 20-21 at the Carving Studio and Sculpture Center focuses on the use of simple tools and techniques to create a variety of jewelry pieces. Learn to forge, taper, fuse and solder for making sinuous linear elements in silver that can be transformed into elegant pieces of finished jewelry. Participants will have the opportunity to create objects such as rings, necklaces and earrings. United Way of Rutland County, Rutland Community Cupboard, the Salvation Army, Fair Haven Concerned and BROC-Community Action in Southwestern Vermont in conjunction with USPS present the 25th Annual Letter Carrier’s Food Drive – Stamp Out Hunger on Saturday, May 13, 2017, the National Association of Letter Carriers will host its 25th annual “Stamp out Hunger” food drive.
The National Association of Letter Carriers, Branch #495 will be collecting non-perishable food items on that Saturday for distribution to food shelves in our Rutland County communities.
