Castleton Colonial Day Hour Tour

 Annual Castleton Colonial Day House Tour

Step back in time as hostesses in Colonial attire greet guests in homes along Castleton’s historic Main Street during the 79th Annual Colonial Day House Tour.

Self guided tour features an outstanding collection of private homes, public buildings, historic sites, galleries and exhibits.

Displays include a period fashion and accessory collection, quilts, antique tools and carriages and demonstrations of Colonial Crafts.

Colonial Day House Tour will be held rain or shine Saturday, August 19th  from 10am to 4pm.

Tour tickets $20 ($18 seniors 62+) can be purchased on Colonial Day at ticket booths on Main Street. (802) 468-5691.

Award-winning fiddler and violinist Jeremy Kittel leads an exceptional band with musical roots spanning the globe. With the drive of Celtic fiddling, spontaneity of jazz, soul of the blues and intricacies of chamber music, the Jeremy Kittel Band captivates and energizes audiences.

Tickets for this performance are $18 for adults, $15 for Castleton alumni and seniors, and $12 for children.

Andrew Jackson kicked British butt, shafted the Indians and smacked down the Spaniards, all in the name of these United States – who cares if he didn’t have permission?

Bloody Bloody’s creators cook up an alternate universe with a musical that follows America’s seventh president from his early days as a child on the wild frontier to his controversial reign in the White House. This stunning musical experience was “Hamilton” before “Hamilton” was “Hamilton”–not to be missed!

Tickets for this performance are $15 for adults and $10 for seniors, children and Castleton alumni and students.

Samba Parade

Samba Parade

The Vermont Governor’s Institute on the Arts celebrates its 33rd year on July 4 as it presents a student-created samba parade to the community of Castleton.

The parade features giant puppets, handmade by 130 high school students from around Vermont in just one intense week leading up to the event, as well as a samba band comprised of students and staff, costumes, drums, streamers, stilts, and more!

The parade takes place on Castleton’s Main Street at 10:30am on Monday, July 4, 2016.

The event is free, open to the public, and a great place to bring the whole family!

Please join the HEAT Squad, Efficiency Vermont, and Green Mountain Power as we discuss how heat pumps can be a part of your approach to lowering your energy bills.

Learn how cold climate heat pumps work, the relative economics of using heat pumps versus other fuel sources, and types of heat pumps available. As part of the workshop, we will also address the first steps toward making your home more energy efficient, how to significantly reduce costs by improving the insulation and air leakage.  Available financing and incentives will be discussed.
