4th Annual Hubbardton Day Celebration 2018

4th Annual Hubbardton Day Celebration 2018

If anyone is looking to join in on a great celebration this summer, all you have to do is come to the Hubbardton Battlefield on Saturday, July 21st, and there will be plenty of fun, food, music, games, concerts and fantastic fireworks. This summer’s issue of the Rutland Magazine, features a five page spread telling you all about Hubbardton Day.

Starting at 4:00 pm, the celebration for the 4th annual Hubbardton Day event gets underway. It will be held at the Hubbardton Battlefield, located on Monument Hill Road in Hubbardton. Remember to bring lawn chairs or blankets, and tents will be provided for your convenience.

In the event of rain, the celebration will be held the next day, Sunday, July 22nd — same place and time. If questionable, call 273-2911.

There are activities scheduled for both children and adults. At 4:00 pm, children games and contests will take place, and there will be prizes and surprises given out. At the same time, for the adults, there will be a corn hole toss competition, and pick up volley ball games. Also, the extremely popular — ” females only” — frying pan throwing contest will be held, last year, drawing over 30 competitors, and which again, is bound to draw a lot of attention. In addition, this year again, there will be a kids, and a “senior ladies” throwing contest as well. Cash prizes will be awarded to the winners of all the contests.

During the day, there will be fried bread dough, water, and souvenir “T” shirts available to purchase.

Other events will be, a raffle with ca$h prizes, a “what’s your pleasure” jar raffle, and a “gorgeous” hand stitched quilt raffle. You don’t have to be present to win any of the raffle’s. Also, back by popular demand, is the fun and exciting face painting lady, who will once again work her “magic” with her amazing creative art !!
Beginning at 5:00 pm until 6:15 pm, a “fantastic PIG-ROAST” and Chicken Barbecue, with all the fixin’s, will be served again by the Hubbardton Center Grange 290. It will certainly fill your belly and put a smile on your face, and get you ready for the next events of the
celebration.

Tickets for the roast/barbeque, are $10.00 for adults, and $5.00 for kids under 10. Free ice cream will also be given out. For advanced tickets call 273-2651, 273-2951 or stop by Castleton Pet Supply, 700 Route 4a West, Castleton.
During the evening music will be provided by the very popular, Steve Kyhill and David Hughes. and the Mt. Independence Seth Warner Fife and Drum Corps will perform. Square dancing will follow the dinner, with Pete Tobin, master caller, doing the honors. All dancers be ready to strut your stuff !! You can bring a picnic supper if you want to, and don’t forget to bring a lawn chair.

Taking center stage at 7:00 pm will be the very popular, and well\ known and outstanding Bluegrass and Americana musicians, NORTHERN HOMESPUN. They play covers, and high energy, foot tapping style music, and they have performed in several venue’s in many of the western Vermont towns. They will fill your musical tastes from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm, and will thoroughly entertain you with a happy feeling.

To close the evening out — and by no means will anyone fall asleep — we have saved the “best for the last” as we present our –“FANTASTIC F* I * R * E * W * O * R * K * S * — EXTRAVAGANZA”, which will captivate your imagination, and thrill every bone in your body !!! The display will definitely out perform last
year’s production, and promises to explode with a spectacular “grand finally” climax to the evening, to close out the fantastically outstanding 4rd annual Hubbardton Day celebration!!
