56th Annual Art in the Park

The Chaffee Art Center is pleased to host its 56th Annual Art in the Park Fine Art & Craft Festivals for 2017, featuring a variety of fine artisan and crafters.

Our  2017 Summer and Fall Foliage Art in the Park will be Saturday & Sunday, August 12 & 13 and October 7 & 8, held in Main Street Park, at the Junction of Routes 4 & 7 in the heart of Rutland.

Gates are open at 10 AM to 4 PM.

Art in the Park has been named one of the “Sunshine Artist 200 Best,” and voted Rutland Herald’s Best of the Best in the category of Best Arts Festival.

Added value like food, music, craft demonstrations, and kids activities are also offered.

All gate donations go to sponsor the Chaffee Art Center’s exhibitions, art education classes, and community outreach programs.

Chaffee Art Center Kentucky Derby Fundraiser

Save the Date! On, Saturday, May 6 2017, the Chaffee Art Center will once again celebrate the Kentucky Derby Fundraiser and the Arts by hosting a Derby Party & Auction from 4:30-7 pm.

The event will feature live music, cash bar & hors d’oeurves, silent auction, and the race streamed live on a big screen.

Mark your calendars and prepare your derby hats for an afternoon of fun, spirits, and “The Greatest Two Minutes in Sports!”.

Violinist Stephen Waarts has been praised for playing “with technical command and a totally natural sense of musical drama” (Strings Magazine). He has already garnered worldwide recognition, having captured the Audience Prize at the 2015 Queen Elisabeth Competition; First Prize at the 2014 Menuhin Competition; and Second Prize and the Audience Prize in the 2013 Montreal International Competition.
Acclaimed from a young age, he has already performed over thirty standard, as well as rarely performed, violin concertos, appearing as soloist with the Orquesta Sinfónica de Navarra and the Orchestre Symphonique de Montreal.

A native of the San Francisco Bay Area, Stephen Waarts started his music education with Suzuki violin lessons and piano studies, and studied with Li Lin at the San Francisco Conservatory. He studied with Itzhak Perlman at the Perlman Music Program, and with Aaron Rosand at the Curtis Institute, where he held the Frank S. Bayley Annual Fellowship. He is currently a Master’s student at the Kronberg Academy in Germany, working with Mihaela Martin.

Mr. Waarts plays on a c. 1750 Pietro Guarneri II violin, on loan through the Stradivari Society of Chicago.
