Tom Huebner Named Rutland Region Chamber Business Leader of the Year 2017
RUTLAND, VT – The Rutland Region Chamber of Commerce has announced Tom Huebner, President & CEO of the Rutland Regional Medical Center, has been selected “Business Leader of the Year 2017”. The award will be presented at the Chamber’s Annual Meeting on Thursday, October 19th (5pm) at The Paramount Theatre in Rutland.
During Huebner’s tenure, the Rutland Region Medical Center has grown into the County’s largest employer with over 1,600 employees. “Tom has been an integral part of the business community since he took over the helm of the Rutland Regional Medical Center in 1997. Over the past 27 years there have been significant changes to the health care industry and Tom has always had the needs of the Rutland Region first” said Mary Cohen, Executive Director of the Rutland Region Chamber of Commerce.
Huebner and the Rutland Regional Medical Center have received over 20 national awards and recognition that support the unwavering commitment to being the best community health care system in New England.
“Tom has really taken the lead on great collaboration initiatives with many local organizations to ensure the best practices are in place for proactive measures in keeping our communities healthy” said Cohen.
Tom Huebner was nominated for this award by Peg Bolgioni, Communications Specialist and Brian Kerns, Vice President of Human Resources, on behalf of Rutland Regional Medical Center.
“Tom’s accomplishments throughout his 27 years as a leader and President & CEO of Rutland Regional Medical Center, Vermont’s largest community hospital, are well documented. What many do not realize is his tireless effort in transforming the culture at the hospital. At every level and with every employee, he has championed a workplace of collaboration and cooperation.”
“He recognized that in order for the hospital to be successful and positively affect patient outcomes, there needed to be an engaged and supported staff. As evidence of Tom’s success, while under his leadership, the hospital has had opportunities to celebrate many milestones of improvement from patient satisfaction and employee engagement scores, financial strength, to industry awards and recognitions. In fact, the hospital has been awarded over 20 industry awards and recognitions the past two years alone. This includes being recognized twice by the coveted Magnet Nursing Excellence Status, and more recently, the US News & World Report’s “Best Regional Hospital” naming RRMC as the only hospital in the state to achieve this recognition.” According to Peg Bolgioni, Communications Specialist and Brian Kerns, Vice President of Human Resources
Tom’s current associations include Chairman of the Rutland Area Community Services and Vermont Association of Hospitals and Health Systems, Board member of the American Hospital Association, Governance Committee and Board of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Vermont, the Vermont Business Roundtable Board, OneCare, CHAC (Community Health Payment Systems), VNA & Hospice, membership in the American College of Health Care Executives, as well as various other civic organizations.
Other highlights of the Chamber’s Annual Meeting include keynote speaker Bill Shouldice, CEO, Vermont Teddy Bear/Vermont Chamber Foundation Chair; unveiling of the much anticipated Regional Marketing Initiative; recognition of the Rutland County Rising Stars and the vision for the Chamber moving forward.
