Hello Chamber Members,
First, I want to let you all know how excited we are to welcome Chris Shaddock as our Director of Business Development. We feel very fortunate to have had a very strong candidate pool from which to choose and ultimately decided on Chris because of his vast and relevant experience as well as his enthusiasm to help grow our region into an economically and socially vibrant community. Please read more about him down below!
We are moving forward with our Regional Marketing Initiative and expect to have a Press Event and some creative content to share with the community later this summer. Our Workforce, Quality of Life and Killington Valley Subcommittees continue to work toward building the infrastructure we need to help support the initiative. I am grateful and appreciative of all those who are willing to work with us, have attended many meetings and have shared valuable insights in this process! If you would like to get involved, please contact me!
Thanks to all who supported and joined us for our 32nd Annual Golf Tournament held at the Rutland Country Club on May 19th. I particularly want to thank all who visited Bruce Bouchard and me at the putting green for the very exciting Putting Contest. It was great to meet you all and am thankful for your support!
Look for some educational opportunities in the near future! The Chamber has been working with the RYP’s and REDC on a new Leadership Development Program for those seeking to enhance their leadership skills in the workplace and the community. The comprehensive curriculum offering will run one day a month for ten months and will incorporate classroom learning as well as real time problem solving.
We are also partnering with REDC, SBDC and the Center for Women in Enterprise on a Business Planning Class that will help new as well as existing businesses create a plan for the future of their company. This 10-class offering is free thanks to the support of our partners and graduates will walk away with a comprehensive plan and vision for their business. Stay tuned for more details coming soon!
We would also like to welcome Steven Peters as the Director of the Downtown Rutland Partnership! We look forward to working with him and the local merchants to continue the revitalization leading to the excitement and vibrancy that we experience right here in our downtown.
I invite you to contact me at any time with your questions, thoughts and ideas about any and all the different things we are involved in. This is a very exciting time to be in the Rutland Region!
Happy June!
Mary
